Jonathan Hernandez
Practice Manager
"Jona" is thrilled to take on the role of Practice Manager, overseeing daily operations at Cardona DPC after 25 years of experience in medical device development and manufacturing as a Professional Engineer. His focus is in supervising daily activities, streamlining workflows, and maintaining regulatory compliance. He is also the creative director of marketing which is critical in sharing the important message of direct primary care and to increase our local community engagement.

When he is not in the clinic, he enjoys making his own sourdough bread, working on old Toyota trucks, and standup paddleboarding.

Meghan Avis
Clinic Nurse
Meghan began in healthcare as a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy, where she learned to stay calm under pressure (and how to make coffee strong enough to wake the base). After her service, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and spent years providing top-tier, compassionate care in primary care. She's also led a multi-specialty practice as a clinical supervisor, where she balanced leadership, logistics, and the occasional printer meltdown with grace.

When not taking care of patients, Meghan is likely running. As a dedicated marathoner, she completes the Dopey Challenge every year (that's 48.6 miles in four days!) to raise money for charity-and somehow still has energy to spare.

Nyla Ayeni
Medical Office Assistant
Nyla graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in Nutrition in Health and Society and minored in Portuguese. Her academic experiences sparked a deep interest in promoting health and wellness through nutrition and advancing health equity. She is currently applying to physician assistant school with the goal of using her public health background to expand access to healthcare in underserved communities. In her free time she enjoys trying new recipes, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Hercules Harold Hernandez
Best Boy
Hercules is the quintessential English Bulldog and occasional guest star at Cardona Direct Primary Care. Known for his wrinkly face, endearing waddle, and laid-back charm, his rare appearances are a treat for everyone at the clinic. Whether he’s offering a slow tail wag or simply lounging in his dignified bulldog style, Hercules has a special way of brightening the day. His visits are as unforgettable as they are heartwarming, making him a cherished, if infrequent, part of the Cardona DPC family.
